With three months to go before the kick-off of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled in Morocco from December 21, Algeria’s national team is expected to hold its final training camp at home. Head coach Vladimir Petkovic, in agreement with the Algerian Football Federation, has opted for the Sidi Moussa Technical Center, rather than relocating preparations abroad as has been done in the past. This decision aims to provide players with a familiar environment and optimal working conditions, while keeping them close to their supporters. As for friendly matches, no decisions have been made yet, but several African teams have already expressed interest in taking on the Fennecs.
Drawn into Group E, Algeria will face Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan. It’s a group that’s both open and perilous, where experience and consistency will be decisive. On paper, the Fennecs are favorites, but their recent disappointments in the group stage are a stark reminder that nothing can be taken for granted.
Between a home-based training camp and a group that leaves no room for complacency, Petkovic’s Algeria knows there’s no margin for error. AFCON 2025 will be a true test for a team seeking redemption.
