Al-Hilal complete move for Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli | OneFootball

A seven-season love affair has finally come to an end as Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli officially completed his €70million (£60m) move to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal.

The 25-year-old Brazilian international winger, who helped Mikel Arteta's Gunners end their Premier League trophy drought last season, becomes the club's record sale in the process, besting the £35m sale of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (2017).

Martinelli, who played a vital role during Arsenal's impressive group stage performance in last season's Champions League, was coveted during the summer transfer window on the back of the club looking to elevate both the ceiling and the floor of their left-sided options, with Galatasaray also interested.

Arsenal sealed a move for talented Greek winter Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, and were also keen on both Morgan Rodgers and Vinícius Júnior, while selling fan-favourite Leandro Trossard to Beşiktaş, and Gabriel Jesus to Barcelona.

Martinelli becomes the third Premier League signing made by Al-Hilal this summer, joining Ollie Watkins and Crysencio Summerville at Kingdom Arena.

The Arsenal cult hero looks set to begin his new chapter in earnest, taking up the number seven shirt and being included in tonight's training session ahead of Al-Hilal's Friday evening Saudi Pro League fixture against Al-Shabab.
