Aleksandr Golovin will remain at AS Monaco this window, despite interest from Russia after an eventful deadline day in France.

According to Nice-Matin, Monaco weighed up a sale as markets in Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Russia stayed open, with Zénith Saint-Pétersbourg and Spartak Moscou tracking the midfielder, who has been at the club since 2018.

The club endured a chaotic final day on Tuesday 1 September, failing to move on Folarin Balogun and Lamine Camara. Sporting chief Thiago Scuro said further departures might follow to balance the books.

Golovin was open to a move, yet started the Ligue 1 trip to PSG on Friday 4 September, a sign Filipe Luis intended to keep using him.

No agreement was reached between the parties, and the Russian transfer window closes on Thursday.

Pape Cabral will also remain at the club. The proposed sale of the young midfielder to Saudi club Al Ahli did not go through on 5 September, and with a need to lighten the wage bill, Monaco will no doubt look for solutions in the winter window.
