Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has pulled out of the England squad due to an injury, ruling him out of Tuesday’s UEFA Nations League clash against Czechia at Wembley Stadium.

Scott picked up the injury before the 7-0 thrashing of Croatia, but played through the pain to make his first start for the Three Lions, according to journalist Alex Crook.

The 23-year-old will now return to Bournemouth for further assessment.

Scott was one of the standout performers against Croatia, impressing with and without possession.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Declan Rice will feel his place under threat after Scott’s display against Slaven Bilic’s side.

The Bournemouth midfielder will be hoping he has done enough to secure a spot in Tuchel’s side ahead of November’s clashes against Croatia and Spain.

Myles Lewis-Skelly and James Garner are in contention to replace Scott in the starting line-up for Tuesday’s meeting with Czechia.

Lewis-Skelly started in the defeat to Spain and in the previous meeting with Czechia, while Garner has only featured twice as a substitute in the past three matches.

The Arsenal midfielder could get the nod following his previous impressive displays, potentially pairing with Elliot Anderson in central midfield.

Meanwhile, Manchester City defender Rico Lewis has earned a late call-up for the game, replacing teammate Nico O’Reilly.

Tuchel is expected to name a strong starting line-up as England look to keep pace with group leaders Spain and end the international break on a high.
