Alexander Nübel ‘to fight’ Jonas Urbig for Bayern number one on return | OneFootball

Kicker reports that Alexander Nübel wants to challenge for Bayern Munich’s number one shirt when his Stuttgart loan ends this summer.

The 29-year-old is due back with the Bundesliga holders after three years at Stuttgart, although his situation in Munich remains unresolved. From his side, he is ready to compete for the role.

Speaking before Germany’s game against Ghana, he said the chances were high that he could return to Bayern.

Much depends on Manuel Neuer’s decision. The 40-year-old is expected to meet Bayern officials to discuss his future. If he retires, Jonas Urbig is expected to be number one. Nübel is prepared to challenge, having established himself as Germany’s number two and impressed at the MHP Arena.
