The federation announced on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, that Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has been banned for 13 matches after punching SD Huesca captain Jorge Pulido in the Aragon derby in LaLiga Hypermotion. In its statement, it handed 12 for assault under article 12.1, plus one for a second yellow.

Already on a booking, he approached referee Dámaso Arcediano Monescillo to protest a possible VAR red for a team-mate late on. After pushing Pulido and being shown red, he then struck the Huesca captain in the face, leaving a haematoma on his left cheekbone noted in the match report.

Play was stopped at the time, the act followed his dismissal, and he ran towards the rival captain, jumped and punched with excessive force. The blow was among the gravest, the melee that followed endangered others, and police escorted him to the dressing room.

His subsequent apology through Zaragoza’s channels did not soften the penalty. On loan from Rayados de Monterrey of Mexico, he will not play again for Zaragoza, and the club is studying suspending him without pay.

The incident occurred in a professional competition of high national interest, which carries added responsibility for the image projected.

Further bans were issued: Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jiménez received four matches for a punch during the melee, and Dani Tasende got two for kicking Daniel Luna. Jiménez will miss the penultimate round against CD Castellón, matchday 41, at El Alcoraz on the weekend of 22 to 25 May 2026.
