Valencia have given the green light to 23-year-old defender Rubo Iranzo’s departure, with Real Zaragoza poised to make him their 14th summer signing.
El Periódico de Aragón first revealed the move and reports he will sign a three-year contract, travelling on Monday to Zaragoza to complete formalities, then joining training on Tuesday if timelines are met.
Known as Rubo, Rubén Iranzo will end a 14-year spell in Valencia’s academy, having joined at benjamín level. He captained Valencia Mestalla and is an under-19 international. Since debuting in 2021-22 in a derby at Levante’s Ciutat de València, he has made 12 first-team appearances.
Last season he featured four times under Carlos Corberán, three of those in the Copa del Rey, and scored in the tie against Burgos.
Zaragoza had waited weeks because his profile suits Ibai Gómez and Lalo Arantegui’s plans. Quick, strong and composed in possession, he can operate at centre-back or right-back, a role he often filled with Valencia’s senior side.
The deal will be at zero cost, with Valencia retaining 25% of any future sale and a right of first refusal. Zaragoza open their league campaign against Nàstic on Sunday 30 August.
