Andy Carroll has publicly identified former television dance coach Kevin Adams as the man who sexually assaulted him, detailing the ordeal in his new autobiography. Adams was convicted in 2023 and jailed for 20 months at Chelmsford Crown Court.
He told The Sun on Sunday: "Now that Kevin Adams has been named in court documents as my abuser, I can confirm it. Hopefully now I can finally start to put this chapter behind me. This had a devastating impact on my life and loved ones."
Adams, a coach on BBC show Fame Academy, was placed on the Sex Offender Register and banned from entering Carroll’s village.
Carroll writes that after a game Adams came over to watch boxing, mixed drinks that left him lightheaded, and that he woke naked to Adams under the duvet attempting oral sex before ejecting him and calling police and his nanny.
Carroll says speaking out has been difficult, but messages from other male victims reinforced that men should talk when ready. Naming a perpetrator is emotionally costly, he adds, and he hopes it encourages survivors to seek help.
Now with National League South side Dagenham & Redbridge, he faces trial next January after denying a non-molestation order breach.
