With medicals cleared, the club are awaiting final paperwork before any debut, as the CBF must list both players in its Boletim Informativo Diário, the BID.

Valencia, 23, is a right winger signed for 5 million euros, around R$ 30 million, adding a young option to Leonardo Jardim's attack. He arrives from Royal Antwerp in Belgium, where he played 84 games, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists.

Freitas faced Flamengo in a friendly in Portugal during the 2026 mid-season while with River Plate, a game that allowed the Rio club to study him closely. There is an internal view that he shares traits with Lautaro Martínez, which has heightened expectations.

Even so, Freitas joins as cover rather than a starter, set to be the immediate back-up to Pedro. Increased competition is seen as a positive for the forward line.
