According to Globo.com, Dynamo Moscow cancelled the purchase of Ecuadorian forward Plata after a medical flagged right-knee tendinitis, so the player will return to Flamengo.
Plata is travelling back from Russia to Rio de Janeiro and will be reintegrated into the squad. A fresh move is unlikely with the main European windows now shut, with only the Netherlands open until Wednesday, Türkiye until Friday, Russia until day 10 and Portugal and Greece until day 15.
The tendinitis had already kept him out of July league matches against São Paulo and Internacional, after he felt pain following the 4-0 win over Chapecoense. An MRI then identified the issue.
He returned to the squad against Vitória on 9 August, started both legs of the Libertadores last 16 against Cruzeiro, and came on in the second half of the 2-1 defeat at the Mineirão.
In Russia, he underwent two checks, the first using Flamengo data did not find problems, the subsequent medical led to the rejection. Dynamo then moved for Independiente forward Maxi Gutiérrez, and Flamengo suspect the process was used to lower the cost of that deal.
Flamengo dispute the diagnosis, saying he had been active and has no current knee problem, and the board will assess whether to take action. Arrascaeta had previously lamented Plata’s exit and later posted on X celebrating his return.
