Dynamo Moscow hit back at Flamengo after Gonzalo Plata deal collapses | OneFootball

Dynamo Moscow have pulled out of signing Gonzalo Plata after telling Flamengo the forward failed his medical, and issued a statement explaining their stance. Plata had already travelled to Russia and is now set to return to the Brazilian club.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Dynamo phoned only to confirm their withdrawal without offering reasons, and Flamengo have signed Anthony Valencia as the Ecuadorian’s replacement. The agreement between the clubs had set an upfront €12 million fee, which will not be paid after Dynamo’s decision.

Dynamo said Gonzalo Plata and Botafogo’s Matheus Martins arrived in Moscow on Sunday, 30 August, for the final stage of negotiations and related procedures. The club added they opted, for long-term reasons, not to complete either transfer, and noted work continues to strengthen the squad during the current window.

Beyond Plata, Dynamo determined that Matheus Martins failed his medical, so he will also head back after travelling with the winger.

Flamengo’s medical department maintains Plata is fit for elite football, had been featuring regularly for club and Ecuador, and has no history of surgeries, fractures or serious chronic issues. They said they received Dynamo’s assessment with surprise and scepticism.

The club said it will seek appropriate reparations, accused Dynamo of amateurism and irresponsibility in concluding the talks, and called the episode a warning for Brazilian football. They added Plata, already a winner of the Libertadores, Copa do Brasil, Brasileirão, Supercopa Rei and Cariocão with Flamengo, will be welcomed back to continue his successful spell.
