Arsenal join Paris Saint-Germain in race to sign Barcelona star | OneFootball

Before the summer transfer window closes later this month, Barcelona are expected to finalise several deals. They want to sign the likes of Julian Alvarez and Joao Cancelo, while there is every chance that multiple first team players are moved on – and one of the leading candidates is Ferran Torres.

Having already lost Robert Lewandowski after he decided against signing a new contract earlier in the summer, Barcelona are fearing losing a second striker. They want Torres to stay, but there is now a considerable chance that he departs, given that he has informed Paris Saint-Germain of his desire to join them.

But it is not only PSG that are after Torres. According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are now considering a move for the 2026 World Cup final matchwinner, with the Premier League champions having reached out to his representatives in the last few days.

Arsenal missed out on signing Vinicius Junior after he signed a new Real Madrid contract, and with a move for Julian Alvarez also unlikely to be successful due to his desire to join Barcelona, they have turned their attention to Torres, whom they see as a market opportunity given that he has less than a year remaining on his contract at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Torres exit is looking more and more inevitable

As the summer goes on, it is looking more and more likely that Torres will leave Barcelona this summer. They cannot afford to keep him for another season if he does not commit to a new contract, as it would be a disaster if he left in 2027 as a free agent.

Right now, PSG are firm favourites to sign Torres, although they have yet to agree personal terms with the Barcelona striker. That gives Arsenal a chance to swoop in, although they are yet to advance their interest at this stage.
