Arthur Masuaku ‘to join’ Konyaspor as Sunderland exits gather pace | OneFootball

Arthur Masuaku has arrived in Türkiye and is closing on a move to Konyaspor, Yeni Haber Spot reports. Sunderland are preparing to move on several squad players as the window enters its final three weeks.

Leo Hjelde is set to join Belgian side Mechelen, and Academy of Light product Anthony Patterson is due a medical with Wrexham after the clubs agreed an initial fee of around £eight million.

Midfielder Abdoullah Ba is also set to join Peterborough United on a permanent deal within 48 hours, reuniting with former Black Cats team-mate Harrison Jones.

Masuaku’s underwhelming year on Wearside is nearing its end. The former West Ham United full-back signed a two-year contract last summer, made four appearances, then spent the second half of the season on loan at Lens.

Despite limited club minutes, he was named in the DR Congo squad for this summer’s World Cup in North America. He started all three group games, taking four points against Portugal, Colombia and Uzbekistan, before a 2-1 defeat against England in the round of 32.

Upon arrival, Masuaku said: “Thank you very much for welcoming me. I came here in a good mood. Now it’s time to work and show what we can do. Thank you very much.”
