Unai Emery has been handed a double boost as Brian Madjo and Leon Goretzka travel with Aston Villa to a training camp in Spain. According to ExpressAndStar.com, both players have joined the group.

The pair, who have missed the start of the Premier League season through injury, flew out on Tuesday lunchtime. Villa will spend several days in Spain and play a friendly on Friday night to keep players not away on international duty sharp during a three-week break.

Madjo, a teenager, has not featured since scoring his first Villa goal in last month’s European Super Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Goretzka suffered a knee injury shortly after signing as a free agent. The Germany international is the only one of Villa’s 10 summer signings yet to make an appearance, and he hopes to make an impact when the season resumes with Brentford visiting on 10 October.

Villa faced Southampton in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Bodymoor Heath last week, and will meet Sevilla in Spain in the annual Antonio Puerta memorial, honouring the midfielder who died in 2007.

Earlier this month Emery criticised the extended international break so early in the campaign, calling it "crazy".
