Aston Villa have completed the signings of Zion Suzuki and Matteo Ruggeri, the club said in a statement on Wednesday morning. The pair join for a combined outlay of around 60 million euros.
Suzuki, a Japan goalkeeper, arrives from Parma. The 23-year-old is understood to have cost 30 million euros plus 5 million in add-ons, while left-back Ruggeri comes from Atlético Madrid for about 25 million euros.
Suzuki switches to the Premier League only days after a proposed move to PSG collapsed. Representatives for the player sought an increased commission at the last minute, which scuppered the transfer.
He was in demand this summer after eye-catching displays for Japan at the World Cup.
Ruggeri leaves Atlético after a single season, having struggled to cement a starting place. He still recorded seven assists in 47 appearances.
