Atlético-MG midfielder Fred says Palmeiras made an approach before he rejoined the club. He prioritised a return to his boyhood side instead.

"My agent is from São Paulo and is a Palmeiras supporter. He said, 'Let's go to Palmeiras, Leila wants to take you.' I said, 'No, in Brazil, at the moment it is Galo, there is no way. Otherwise I stay here'." He told Charla Podcast.

"I had options in Qatar, I could earn more money. I still had two years on my contract at Fenerbahçe. I said, 'I cannot, it is my moment to return to Galo. I need to fulfil this dream of playing at home'."

He left Fenerbahçe in Türkiye in August after 13 years in European football. Atlético-MG paid two million euros, about R$ 11.9 million, plus 500 thousand euros in add-ons, and he signed until the end of 2029.

Since his debut he has become a midfield reference point, with one goal and three assists in eight games. He also scored in the win over Cruzeiro that sealed a Copa do Brasil semi-final place.
