According to Globo.com, around 25 members of an organised supporters’ group forced their way inside and attacked players with punches and kicks, throwing a water cooler and a chair. Defender Yander Barbosa and midfielder Júlio Rusch filed a report with the Civil Police on Monday and were set to undergo forensic examination the same day.

Barbosa said the squad had been showering, tried to secure the door, but it gave way within seconds, and they were struck and had objects hurled at them.

Rusch described a cramped bathroom, said a punch left him dizzy, and warned the lack of security meant the outcome could have been far worse. He added he feared for how such news might reach his family in Curitiba.

A meeting between players and the club’s hierarchy was planned for Monday, with the squad seeking guarantees to prevent further invasions. Some have threatened to leave due to insecurity.

Barbosa said walking out could cause a WO and a two-year closure for the team, and that the group would weigh the board’s request for trust. Rusch said he would speak with his wife about what is best, questioned what might happen if they lose at home again, and noted many team-mates rely on their wages.

Bagé, the Federação Gaúcha de Futebol and the players’ union Siapergs issued statements condemning the violence and calling for the facts to be investigated.
