Bakambu has joined MLS side San Diego after leaving Real Betis on 30 June when no contract renewal was offered.
According to Superdeporte, there is the possibility of extending his deal by two further seasons.
He was close to an exit in January, considering offers to stay in LaLiga or move to Serie A, with Genoa among the suitors, but he opted to reject them.
He was also very close to Internacional de Porto Alegre and, late in the market, was offered to Levante, who later signed Serbian forward Petar Ratkov on loan.
Valencia had targeted him years earlier. His struggles at Betis led the sporting department to make a decision on his future.
He first made his name with the Yellow Submarine, delivering two and a half seasons of strong form, scoring 22 goals in 50 games in his first campaign, 11 in his second, then 14 in half a season, before a 40 million euro move to Beijing Guoan.
He later played for Marseille, Olympiacos, Galatasaray and Betis.
