Barcelona sporting director Deco has this week opened up on the club’s ongoing efforts to reinforce Hansi Flick’s frontline with a view to the season ahead.

This of course comes after the Blaugrana bid farewell to Flick’s two chief centre-forward options from the 2025/26 campaign. Robert Lewandowski was first out the Camp Nou door this summer, departing following the expiration of his contract terms. And Ferran Torres followed suit earlier this month, taking his talents to France with Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona have also added a pair of attacking profiles across the window to date, namely Anthony Gordon, and Karim Adeyemi. Neither, however, is considered a natural goalscoring striker.

For this reason, the aforementioned Deco is of the opinion that whilst Ferran’s production can be largely covered by Gordon and Adeyemi, another signing will be required to fully account for the loss of Lewandowski.

Speaking during an exchange with the media in the aftermath of Wednesday’s Joan Gamper Trophy match, Barca’s transfer chief explained:

“We know we’ve lost two forwards, Robert and Ferran. We can cover Ferran’s role with the additions we’ve already made, but replacing Robert is much more difficult. He’s THE Robert Lewandowski, a player who made history at this club, so replacing him won’t be easy. We do have internal solutions, but we’ll certainly make some moves.”
