Barcelona announced that the teenager will miss Sunday’s clash with Sevilla. He has also been withdrawn from Spain’s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Barcelona provide fitness update

The club released a statement explaining the situation. “The discomfort in the pubic area that player Lamine Yamal has been experiencing has reappeared after the match against PSG. He will be out for the Sevilla game, and the estimated recovery time is 2-3 weeks.”

This news comes as a blow for manager Hansi Flick, who has been relying heavily on the youngster this season. Barcelona face a tough run of fixtures, and Yamal’s absence will be felt.

The injury means he will not feature for Spain in their qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria. Spain boss Luis de la Fuente had named him in his squad earlier this week.

Matches Yamal could miss

Yamal is expected to sit out further matches while recovering. He is likely to be absent for the La Liga encounter against Girona. He could also miss Barcelona’s Champions League meeting with Olympiacos.

The club are hopeful he will return in time for the El Clasico against Real Madrid on October 26. That match is seen as a crucial point in their season.

Supporters will be eager to see him fit again, as he has already shown remarkable form in 2025. Despite his young age, Yamal is a key figure for both club and country.

The 18-year-old achieved individual recognition on the global stage. He finished second in the Ballon d’Or voting, with Ousmane Dembele claiming the award.

In addition, Yamal won the prestigious Kopa Trophy for the best player under the age of 21. It is his second straight year receiving recognition among world football’s brightest talents.

Barcelona will now monitor his recovery closely, with hopes of having him available for their biggest games.
