Beltran agrees River Plate return as Fiorentina secure €6m and sell-on share

Lucas Beltran has accepted a return to River Plate, with Fiorentina to receive €6m and retain 50 per cent of any future sale.

River Plate announced the forward has rejoined on loan until June 2027, with an obligation to buy.

The move follows a week of indications in Italy and Argentina that the clubs had reached full agreement.

The sticking point again was the striker’s reluctance to head back to South America, convinced he could still make his mark in Europe at 25.

Beltran came through River Plate’s academy before joining Fiorentina for €19.7m in the summer of 2023.

Pushed towards an exit last summer, he chose a loan to Valencia instead.

He returned to Florence after three goals and two assists in 30 competitive appearances, capable across the front line.
