Liverpool have already strengthened their defensive and offensive lines with the signings of Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz.
And now, a midfield move could be on the cards. Curtis Jones is wanted by a number of clubs and is valued at £35m, whilst there have also been questions over Alexis Mac Allister’s future.
Should either of those move on, a midfield signing would become essential. Liverpool are already considering their options in the market.
Earlier this summer, Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton was seen as a top target for the Reds, but that interest has cooled…
According to Ben Jacobs, who spoke to The Redmen TV, Liverpool are not actively pursuing a deal for Wharton.
Jacobs said: “At the moment, nothing is moving forward and Liverpool have other central midfield targets in mind.”
Liverpool are thought to have been put off the move by the £100m valuation set by Crystal Palace, in the wake of Elliot Anderson’s £116m move to Manchester City.
But the question remains, who could Liverpool target in midfield?
Liverpool are definitely interested in Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, but would face fierce competition for the 18-year-old.
Another two Ligue 1 midfielders in Lamine Camara and Mamadou Sangare are thought to be on their radar.

West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes is expected to land a big move this summer, but is also valued at around £85m.
Another name to keep an eye on could be Lucas Bergvall, who has asked to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
But as it stands, a move for Wharton seems unlikely this summer…
