Blindkilde Brown signs City contract extension

Manchester City are delighted to announce that Laura Blindkilde Brown has signed a three-year contract extension with the Club.

The England international’s new deal will see her remain with Andrée Jeglertz’s side until the summer of 2030.

A January 2024 arrival from Aston Villa, the midfielder joined as one of the WSL’s most exciting prospects, with her real breakout term coming in 2025/26 when she played an integral role in our double-winning success.

Across the campaign where City lifted both the Barclays Women’s Super League title and FA Cup, Blindkilde Brown featured in 29 of our 32 matches and was also shortlisted for the PFA WSL Young Player of the Year award.

She’s now featured 59 times for for the Blues having also amassed seven senior England caps after making her Lionesses debut in November 2024.

And at only 23-years-old, she’s ready to write the next sparkling chapter in her City story by penning a contract extension with the Blues.

Speaking after signing her new deal, Blindkilde Brown said: “I’m really excited to carry on this journey. I’ve had a really fun two-and-a-half years here, so to sign for another four years is really nice.

“I’ve grown so much as a player and this is a team which I think gets the best out of me too. I want to show more of what I can do this season.”

Manchester City’s Director of Football Therese Sjögran added: “We’re so happy that Laura has signed this extension with the Club.

“She’s an example to any young player looking to regularly break into a first team - everyone saw her importance and impact last season, but her hard work in training was just as vital.

“We regard her as one of the most exciting talents in the game, but Laura is always hungry for more success, just like us.

“We’re eager to see what Laura and City can achieve together.”

EXCITING FUTURE

Blindkilde Brown showed plenty of promise during her first 18 months at City, but she really rose to prominence at the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

Handed an opportunity to start in the engine room for the Blues against Brighton in our first home match of the season, she made the vacancy next to Yui Hasegawa her own and never looked back.

As the year developed, her attributes perfectly contributed the Japan international’s allowing one to sit deep while the other joined the attack – giving us a new dimension to forward moves.

Sam Coffey’s arrival in January 2026 also led to another seamless midfield partnership, with Blindkilde Brown and the US international striking up an excellent connection during Hasegawa’s absence at the Asian Cup.

The England international’s all-action style is perfectly suited to Jeglertz’s system, too, and her relentless pressing was key to the Blues winning the ball high up the pitch throughout the campaign.

Of midfielders to have played 1,000 WSL minutes or more last season, only Erin Cuthbert (1.6) won possession in the final third more often per 90 minutes than the England international.

With 42 tackles also the second highest among her City team-mates, and her pass success rate of 87.6% seventh in the entire WSL, the list of Blindkilde Brown’s achievements in 2025/26 goes on and on.

But what’s so exciting about Laura is that there’s a real sense that the best is still to come.

“We just want to go and win everything,” was her closing statement after City won the FA Cup in May 2026… that hunger is as prevalent as ever ahead of the Blues’ defence of our titles and return to Europe.
