Laura Blindkilde Brown has gone from a promising talent to a crucial and consistent starter in the space of two-and-a-half years at City.

The midfielder has committed her future to the Club until the summer of 2030 by signing a contract extension.

It comes off the back of perhaps her finest season to date, where she was shortlisted for the PFA WSL Young Player of the Year award and played a key role in City claiming the Double.

By looking at her WSL stats alone, Laura’s transformation into a leading light for the Blues is clear to see.

Joining City in January 2024, she went on to feature 17 times in the WSL in her first 18 months with the Blues, and 29 times in all competitions.

She matched that entire tally in 2025/26, more than repaying the faith shown in her by Head Coach Andrée Jeglertz.

A key alteration saw Blindkilde Brown operate in a deeper role, using her energy, anticipation and intelligence to release Yui Hasegawa in more advanced areas of the pitch.

Last season in the WSL she won possession 94 times, the third most of any City player across the campaign, and 73 times more than in 2024/25.

She gained that possession in the final third on 22 occasions as City pressed high and played on the front foot, ranking eighth in the entire WSL in the process.

Furthermore, of the midfielders to have played 1000 WSL minutes or more last season, only Erin Cuthbert (1.6) won possession in the final third more often per 90 minutes than the England international.

Blindkilde Brown also made 42 tackles across her 20 WSL appearances – the second highest at City across the campaign – having previously registered four and five respectively in 2023/24 and 2024/25.

But that’s not to say Laura’s sole responsibility has been to win the ball back – she also continued to flourish when in possession.

Indeed, of her 702 attempted passes, 615 reached their intended target – a success rate of 87.6%.

That passing accuracy was the seventh highest among midfielders in the entire WSL, a common theme across Laura’s WSL career at City to date, with a slightly higher accuracy of 89.6% from 193 passes in 2024/25.

Chance creation also increased to 11, which was the same number she managed to achieve across 2023/24 and 2024/25.

And if her performance in our WSL opener against Birmingham City is anything to go by, Blindkilde Brown is just getting started.

In her 74 minutes on the pitch, Laura completed 66 of her 72 attempted passes, won possession five times and made three tackles.
