Yassine Bounou’s hamstring issue has compounded Al-Hilal’s woes ahead of facing Al-Taawoun, days after their Neom setback.

The club said in a post that the Moroccan goalkeeper visited the medical clinic at the Al-Majidiyah sports centre after sustaining a hamstring injury, and missed Wednesday’s group session with 72 hours to go before kick-off.

Bounou felt the problem before Monday’s sixth-round meeting with Neom at Kingdom Arena. Mohammed Al-Owais deputised and Al-Hilal were beaten 2-0.

His availability for the seventh-round fixture in Buraidah remains unclear. The match takes place on Saturday at Al-Taawoun’s ground.

Al-Hilal lead the Saudi Roshn League with 15 points from five wins and one defeat, ahead of second-placed Al-Qadsiah on goal difference.
