According to L'Équipe, Bordeaux have asked to be heard by the FFF’s Comex on Thursday as they push to be reinstated in National 2, formerly National 3, the fifth tier.

The approach has been made jointly by the club and prospective buyers Sparta Capital and Park Bench to settle their divisional status.

On Wednesday, Sports Minister Marina Ferrari sent a letter to FFF president Philippe Diallo asking what could be done for Bordeaux, citing the club’s standing in French football.

The Girondins intend to present a revamped financial package, including 10.6 million euros in escrow at the Caisse des Dépôts and 10 million dollars lodged with JP Morgan. The federation has not yet replied.

If the plea succeeds, Bordeaux would compete in the fifth tier, whose season started last weekend. That would represent a compromise between last season’s level, the fourth, where they finished second in their group, and the sixth to which they were demoted administratively. The sale by Gérard Lopez to Park Bench and Sparta Capital would then complete, avoiding judicial liquidation.
