Flamengo sporting director José Boto welcomed Brazil’s latest call-ups for Samuel Lino and Pedro, while admitting the timing is not always ideal for the club.

He said call-ups are always positive for the players and the club shares in their happiness, but for Flamengo it can sometimes be less helpful because of tiring travel and time away from training.

Asked if Lino is the best player in Brazil, Boto said the selection is more than fair but he does not judge the game in those terms. He praised Lino’s form, power, dribbling, speed and tactical awareness, placing him among the country’s best.

Brazil head to Australia to play the hosts on 25 and 29 September, then face India away on three October. Flamengo have no fixtures during that period.

The Brasileirão returns for Flamengo on eight October against Santos at Vila Belmiro. The club could also see further internationals with Uruguay, Ecuador and Colombia, and maybe Italy and Argentina.

Before the window, Flamengo visit Quito to meet Independiente del Valle on Thursday ten at Estádio Olímpico Atahualpa, with kick-off at 21:30 Brasília time.
