Brighton complete rapid €20m-plus signing of Chema Andrés from Stuttgart | OneFootball

Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Chema Andrés from VfB Stuttgart on a permanent deal, with the 21-year-old agreeing terms until June 2031. Stuttgart confirmed the transfer, with the fee exceeding €20m, according to Kicker.

The move came together within hours on deadline day. Brighton acted decisively to close the deal.

Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth said the club would have preferred to keep Andrés, but accepted his wish to join the Premier League once Brighton met their financial conditions.

Andrés arrived from Real Madrid in July 2025 for about €3m, in a deal featuring protections for Madrid including a buyback option and a reported 50 percent participation re-sale clause.

He made 40 appearances in his only full season, 26 in the Bundesliga, nine in the Europa League and five in the DFB-Pokal, helping Stuttgart qualify for the Champions League and reach the cup final.

Used as the deepest midfielder, further forward and occasionally in central defence, he began this campaign with two late substitute appearances. Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler now adds a versatile option whose estimated value rose from about €10m to €20m during his first Bundesliga season. Sporting director Mike Cave said the club are pleased to sign a Real Madrid-trained midfielder after a strong year in Stuttgart and that they have followed his potential for some time.
