In the early hours of Wednesday, VfB Stuttgart confirmed that Chema Andrés has joined Brighton & Hove Albion on a permanent transfer
The reported transfer fee is €23 million, with Real Madrid set to receive half of that amount – €11.5 million – through a sell-on clause.
“Chema settled in very quickly for a young player after moving to VfB from Spain. He played his part in helping us qualify for the Champions League and reach the cup final. He was recently given an opportunity to move to Brighton in the Premier League," said Stuttgart board member for sport Fabian Wohlgemuth.
"From a sporting point of view, we’d have liked to keep Chema, but we also had to take into account the player’s desire to move. We made sure the transfer was conditional on certain financial terms being met – which they were – so we agreed to the deal going ahead. We thank Chema for his spell with us and wish him every success in England.”
