Bristol Rovers Rovers have appointed Steve Evans as their new head coach.
The move comes after the club parted ways with Darrell Clarke, who left following Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Swindon Town a result that left Rovers with 10 consecutive league losses and in the relegation zone.
The 63-year-old manager has agreed a deal until the end of the season and will take charge of the Gas for the first time on Friday, when they travel to Crewe Alexandra Alexandra in League Two.
He brings a wealth of experience, having achieved back-to-back promotions with Rotherham United, as well as previous promotions with Stevenage, Crawley Town and Boston United.
Out of work since March after leaving Rotherham, Evans has managed over 1,000 games in a 30-year career, including more than 700 in the English Football League.
