Carlos Miguel said Palmeiras will reach the Conmebol Libertadores quarter-finals after their 1-1 draw with Cerro Porteño at Nubank Parque on Wednesday.

According to Globo.com, the goalkeeper did not speak in the mixed zone but sent a message asking people to stay calm about next Wednesday’s return in Asunción, adding that the team will qualify.

He was the evening’s villain for Palmeiras, erring in added time in a duel with Vegetti and diverting the ball into his own net for the Cerro Porteño goal.

The recent spell has been difficult after another mistake against Atlético-MG, though his first half of the year featured strong displays. He stressed that victories and setbacks are collective, adding he sees football as a society.

The second leg is set for next Wednesday at 19:00 at the Nueva Olla in Asunción.

Before that, Palmeiras turn to the Brasileiro, facing Fluminense at 16:30 on Saturday at the Maracanã.
