Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the 2025 El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu was not only a crucial result in the La Liga title race but also a strong statement of intent from Xabi Alonso’s side.

The match was fiercely contested from start to finish, but Real Madrid’s composure, organisation, and resilience ultimately made the difference.

Among the standout performers on the night was Aurelien Tchouameni, who anchored the midfield with authority and helped dictate the rhythm of play.

Speaking after the match in the mixed zone, the French international shared his delight at the performance and praised the collective effort that led to the win.

“We knew we had to give it our all. The whole team played well and we deserved the win. The coach did an incredible job with the game plan.

“We did everything we wanted to do, pressing hard together and trying to create chances when we won the ball back. We did that and we’re very happy,” said Tchouameni.

Important win for Real Madrid

The Real Madrid midfielder emphasised the importance of the victory in the context of the season, calling it a major confidence boost as the club continues to challenge for the top spot.

“We tried to give it our all and play at our level. We knew it was a key game and the win gives us confidence going forward in La Liga

“Both I and the rest of the players did an incredible job. We won, but it’s only three points, and we have to get more wins and keep going like this,” he added.

Tchouameni also praised the atmosphere at the Bernabeu, underlining the role of the fans in lifting the players through the intense moments of the game.

“During the game, there were times when it was physically difficult, but with the support of the fans, we did a tremendous job and it’s easier with this atmosphere and the fans at home,” he said.

The Frenchman remains optimistic about the campaign, stressing consistency as the key to achieving success.

“We’re doing well in the first part of the season. Everyone knows we weren’t at our best against Atletico, but that’s just one game.

“We’ve only lost one and won all the others. We have to keep it up in every training session and every game, and I’m sure we’ll do great things this season,” he noted.

Dani Carvajal takes the stage

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal marked a personal milestone – his 200th La Liga win – and celebrated it in the best possible way, by defeating Barcelona at home.

“It was a deserved victory and the result doesn’t even do us justice. It was a key game against a direct rival.

“We’re leaving with a very good feeling and three more points in the standings,” said the veteran defender.

Carvajal highlighted Real Madrid’s tactical discipline and defensive solidity throughout the encounter.

“We played very well without the ball, knowing when to press and when to stay together. The team suffered very little and we hardly conceded any chances.

“It’s wonderful to be captain of Real Madrid and beat Barcelona here at home. But we’re realistic and it’s only three points,” he explained.

Finally, the captain took a moment to thank the Madridistas for their passionate support, which added extra fire to the occasion.

“They’ve been spectacular. I want to thank all the fans because they’ve carried us along and supported us throughout the game and in the most difficult moments.

“From the moment we arrived on the bus, it’s been spectacular, and this victory is also theirs. There’s been a great atmosphere,” he concluded.
