The Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, has ordered Santos to pay Monaco two million euros plus interest of €32,876.71 over the signing of midfielder Jean Lucas, roughly R$ 12 million at current rates. Failure to settle could lead to a transfer ban.

According to Globo.com, FIFA first ruled against Santos on 20 May 2025, after which the club appealed to CAS.

Monaco brought the case after Santos paid the first two instalments of the six million euro fee, on 31 August 2023 and 30 June 2024, but missed the final two million euros due on 31 January 2025.

Santos proposed splitting the last payment in two, half on 30 August 2025 and the remainder on 31 January 2026. Monaco rejected the plan.

CAS confirmed the FIFA decision on 22 May. Santos has been approached for comment.
