Cenk Özkacar has signed for Trabzonspor from Valencia for a reported €1.75 million, opting for a return to Türkiye despite interest from newly promoted Schalke.

According to BuLi News, the 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Köln, making 25 Bundesliga appearances, but the club chose not to take up a €2 million option.

The nine-time Türkiye international has yet to play in the Süper Lig, having left second-tier Altay for Lyon at 20.

He initially had success at Valencia, then spent the past two seasons out on loan before departing the club permanently.

Schalke are also linked with centre-backs this summer, including Brighton’s Igor Julio and former Augsburg defender Felix Uduokhai.
