Champions League: Liverpool hit by two injuries
Bad news for Liverpool, despite their emphatic 5-1 victory over Frankfurt in the Champions League.
The Reds have lost two key players: Jeremie Frimpong and Alexander Isak, both forced off with injuries during the match. Dutchman Frimpong, who had only just returned from injury, had to leave the pitch as early as the 19th minute. Coach Arne Slot explained after the game:
It's a hamstring tendon issue. He'll be out for several weeks.
Another setback: Isak, the most expensive signing in the club's history, played only one half before being replaced by Federico Chiesa:
He felt some discomfort in his groin. We hope it's nothing serious, but we have to be cautious after three months out.
These injuries come at a bad time for Liverpool, who are set to face Real Madrid (November 4) and then Manchester City (November 9) in two decisive clashes.
