Xabi Alonso says Chelsea will not rush a decision on Mykhailo Mudryk’s future as Leeds United pursue the winger on loan. According to Leeds Live, a first proposal was rejected but talks remain active.
Mudryk is expected to leave to jumpstart his career after more than 18 months without a competitive match due to anti-doping charges. Those charges were dropped this summer, making him eligible to play again.
He is training away from the main Chelsea squad, part of a group, including Liam Delap, who look set to depart before next week’s deadline.
Asked at the weekend, Alonso took a diplomatic line, saying there was still time to decide, that choices would not be rushed and they would be taken at the right moment.
Daniel Farke has underlined the need for more additions with eight days remaining in the window. Leeds are hoping to recruit Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Michael Zetterer as a new number two and also want left-footed cover at left-back. Farke has kept player profiles private, saying he is open to good players, content with his squad and will push efforts to the last day.
