Leeds United’s move for Mykhailo Mudryk has hit a setback, with Chelsea no longer considering a loan to Elland Road, according to football.london. An initial proposal has already been turned down, and the Blues have set out their position on further approaches.
Leeds are still pursuing additions after their opening-day win over Nottingham Forest, sealed by Anton Stach’s late free-kick. Harry Wilson, James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic started, with Nico Elvedi on the bench days after signing.
Mudryk emerged as a target once he was cleared to play again following a doping ban. Several Premier League and European sides are keen, Strasbourg remains an option, and the winger is thought to prioritise staying in England, but Leeds now looks unlikely.
Leeds remain interested in the Ukrainian as one of several left-sided attacking options. A loan had been the focus rather than a permanent deal, which could now push focus towards alternatives.
Attention has also turned to midfield, with 18-year-old Matias Orozco of Deportivo Cali on the radar and also attracting Liverpool.
With one of the oldest squads on average in the Premier League, Leeds are aiming to add youth. Should Orozco arrive, he is unlikely to stay or play a prominent role immediately given Daniel Farke’s options.
