The Blues boss went viral in the aftermath of his side's comeback victory at Pride Park

Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has reacted to the viral footage of himself which circulated on social media after his team came from behind to defeat Derby County at Pride Park last weekend.

The 41-year-old was quizzed about the particular moment, during which he was taking in the celebrations from the travelling contingent in DE24, in his pre-match press conference ahead of Blues' upcoming clash with Middlesbrough at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.

Birmingham have endured a mixed start to the 2026/27 Championship season, having been impressive in a handful of encounters but not always gaining their just rewards for their performance levels.

Despite losing on just one occasion - a controversial 2-1 defeat to Norwich City - the West Midlands outfit sit 10th ahead of their clash with Kim Hellberg's side, with both clubs expected to be in and amongst the promotion scene.

In the season's early weeks, Davies and his team have seen their resolve tested, and a prime example of that came last weekend as they fell behind for the third league game running.

It is no real surprise, therefore, that the man in the dugout perhaps felt the way he did at full-time, and now he has since been able to see the funny side of proceedings.

As previously mentioned, it was Derby who took the lead in the game through Bobby Clark, but Birmingham were able to respond instantly when Carlos Vicente powered Liam Millar's cross past Jacob Widell Zetterström.

The Canadian loanee was the provider for the winner also as Paik Seung-ho headed home from a matter of yards, which was the cause of strong celebrations post-match.

With the sold-out away end serenading their heroes with a rendition of Keep Right On, Davies was seen being somewhat motionless as he took the scenes in.

With this not being the first time the Blues boss has gone viral because of such antics, when asked about it in his press conference, he responded: "I was (drinking it in).

"Thankfully, I don't see any of these clips, but I'm sure I look pretty stupid in that.

"I was there and they (the fans) were singing. You're in awe of it a little bit. As I said after the game, I think every single one (of the players) were there, all the fans, and they were singing," he added.

"I thought, 'I'm clapping this', but I should just be watching it, so I did just 'freeze',

"There probably is things that, I don't know what's being done, thank god I'm not on social media but I'm sure I look pretty stupid," Davies joked.

"I really enjoyed it and I thought, 'I'm the Birmingham City manager and it's been an amazing experience for me'. I want to remember these this moment. I've said before that football is about memories."

Whilst Birmingham have made a solid start to the season, especially after a 6-1 defeat to Brentford in the EFL Cup second round, that hasn't stopped Davies from reportedly being under pressure due to the club's lofty aspirations.

It was initially reported that, depending on the result in the East Midlands and against Middlesbrough, Davies' future would become a serious talking point at board level amid links to both Sean Dyche and Scott Parker.

Even though the first of those two games was won, it has now been claimed that Rob Edwards has emerged as a potential managerial candidate for Knighthead, whilst also receiving attention from Premier League side, Crystal Palace.

After the weekend, there is no club action until early October, meaning Birmingham will hope to gain some momentum ahead of the three-week fixture gap.

Middlesbrough certainly have the capacity to cause damage in the upcoming fixture, but the same can definitely be said about Davies' own attack, as they search for back-to-back wins for the first time since April.
