Santos have unveiled Uruguayan midfielder Christian Oliva as a reinforcement for the rest of the season. He will wear number 28 and spoke to compatriots Maxi Silvera and Emiliano Velázquez before agreeing to join.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Oliva said conversations with Silvera and Velázquez, who praised the club and the city, helped shape his decision. He added that once his agent relayed the offer he accepted immediately and had no doubts.
Silvera spent 2023 at Santos, arriving in the second half of that season. The forward made 12 appearances, with one assist and no goals, and started only three times. That campaign ended in relegation from the Campeonato Brasileiro, and he now plays for Nacional in Uruguay.
Centre-back Emiliano Velázquez featured for Santos from August 2021 to July 2022. He played 27 competitive matches, without a goal or an assist, and as of March 2026 is with Danubio in Uruguay.
Oliva was presented to the media on Thursday and attended a press conference after the announcement.
