Events Explainer: All you need to know ahead of our Etihad clash with Arsenal!

Andrée Jeglertz’s side welcome the Gunners to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 4 October, with kick-off set for 16:30 (UK).

It is the first of two Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures that we will host across the road at the Etihad in 2026/27, with us also set to take on Manchester United on Sunday 14 February.

But first, our attention is on our upcoming WSL clash as we look to extend our winning run to five and further cement our place at the league summit.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have had a bit more of a turbulent start to the campaign as they sit seventh with five points following one win, two draws and one defeat.

And if our 2025/26 home win over the London outfit is anything to go by – in which Iman Beney’s strike in the dying embers secured a 3-2 victory at the Joie – Sunday’s clash will be another spectacle.

With such an occasion, a special Matchday Live show will be broadcast on mancity.com and the Official Man City App alongside our social media channels.

And who better than to provide City-centric analysis before, during and after the game than former City stars Izzy Christiansen and Toni Duggan.

The former is the Head Coach of City’s Next Gen squad. But before she swapped her football boots for the tactics board, Christiansen represented City 100 times and scored 32 goals whilst operating in the attacking third of the pitch.

The former England international was part of City’s 2016 WSL title-winning squad and also lifted the 2016/17 FA Cup and 2014 and 2016 League Cups.

Duggan was Christiansen’s team-mate during our 2016 title triumph, winning the domestic cups also during her 75 appearances.

From her 34 goals for City, one of her most important saw Duggan net in City’s all-important 2-0 win over Chelsea which confirmed our first-ever top-flight trophy.

Duggan and Christiansen will be alongside host Cel Spellman in our studio, with the show to begin one hour before kick-off, so approximately 15:30 (UK).

And once the game gets under way, we will have live CITY+ commentary from Ally Mann and Megan Campbell.

Campbell is also a former Blue who totalled 42 appearances for the Club in defence, helping City lift the FA Cup in 2019/20.

They will be on hand to paint the pictures as Jeglertz’s side look to boost our league position with a positive performance against Arsenal.
