CNRD orders Santos to pay R$ 18,616,377.46 to Cuiabá over Joaquim | OneFootball

The CNRD of the CBF has ordered Santos to pay R$ 18,616,377.46 to Cuiabá over deals involving defender Joaquim, and the club can still appeal to the CMBA, according to Globo.com.

Cuiabá publicised the ruling on their social channels. The debt stems from Joaquim’s sale to Santos in February 2023 and the sell-on share from his move to Tigres, of Mexico, in July 2024.

To facilitate settlement, Cuiabá renegotiated and waived part of what was due, with payment set in five instalments, the final falling in January 2025. Cuiabá allege Santos paid only the first tranche, prompting the case to reach the CNRD in May 2025, which issued its decision 16 months later.

The Mato Grosso side say they respect the verdict but want immediate payment, and they pointed to recent FIFA transfer bans imposed on Santos in cases brought by Arouca of Portugal and Monaco of France.

Santos responded on their website that the matter is being handled in the proper forums and that public exposure does not help. The club reaffirmed a commitment to meet obligations within planned timelines and processes, aligned with CBF Financial Fair Play principles.

Cuiabá also referenced sums they say are owed by Corinthians, Grêmio and Sport, adding that the absence of those funds is causing financial strain.
