Conference League draw as Brighton and Hearts learn fate

Brighton and Hearts have learned who their opponents in the UEFA Conference League will be following Friday’s draw.

Both British clubs will host AS Monaco in this year’s competition, which was won by Crystal Palace last season.

The Seagulls will also travel to Spain and Greece to face Getafe and Panathinaikos respectively, while Hearts face a long haul trip to Turkey to take on Mo Salah’s Trabzonspor.

Three of the last five editions of the Conference League have been won by Premier League sides, giving Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler hope they can find success in the competition as well.

He said: “In every cup competition you have chances so of course, in certain moments you need a little bit of luck, a little bit of momentum but overall I think the success from the English teams is also the belief, the confidence to do it so we know it is a different year, a different area so let’s see how it’s going this season.”
