Following his injury on Monday, FC Barcelona have come forward with a definitive update on the condition of Roony Bardghji and it is not good news.

As was expected, the Swedish winger has suffered a rupture of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in his right knee and is all set to undergo surgery in the coming day.

“Roony Bardghji has suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He will undergo surgery in the coming days,” the club statement read.

Bardghji’s injury occurred during a training session on Monday, following which he left the pitch in tears, raising alarm bells at Barça.

The Swedish international was expected to leave the club in the coming days, having fallen down the pecking order under Hansi Flick.

However, the ACL injury and the subsequent operation means that Bardghji will be sidelined for months together, ruling out the possibility of a departure this summer or even in January.

It comes as a bitter blow for the young attacker who had done well in the minutes he received during pre-season.

A clearer update on his time out should emerge once the surgery is performed, but an injury of this nature means that Bardghji is staring at around six to seven months out at the very least.

Meanwhile, in order to avoid injuries to other stars who are on the exit ramp, Barcelona have decided to put as many as six players on individual training programmes starting today.
