Roony Bardghji sustained a right knee injury in Barcelona’s Monday morning training session, placing his immediate future with the club in doubt.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the 20-year-old could face months out, with no medical statement yet issued. Barcelona are expected to share details on Tuesday once tests clarify the diagnosis and treatment.
Hansi Flick had already informed Bardghji he would not feature for the first team this season. Karim Adeyemi’s arrival further reduced his chances as understudy to Lamine Yamal on the right flank. He was not even selected for the three-team friendly in Udine, where Marc Casadó was also left out as he seeks a move.
The injury places any potential transfer on hold, after the winger sought options, particularly in the Premier League.
The Swedish winger, born in Kuwait and of Syrian origin, joined Barcelona last summer for 2.5 million euros after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in the same knee while at Copenhagen.
In his first season he managed two goals and four assists in 28 matches. Barcelona had intended to sell him this August while retaining a buy-back option. The setback changes the picture.
