Conmebol barred Jorginho from speaking to the media after he was sent off in Flamengo's 1-1 draw with Independiente del Valle on Thursday, the second leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals.

Jorginho was first booked 10 minutes into the second half for pulling Perelló's shirt to stop a counter-attack. He then caught Alcívar in the face with his arm at 19 minutes, collected a second yellow and was dismissed by referee Andrés Matonte. According to Coluna Do Fla, he later attempted to speak in the mixed zone but was prevented under Conmebol rules that bar sent-off players from post-match media duties.

Jorginho will serve a suspension in the first leg of the Libertadores semi-final against Estudiantes, who eliminated Corinthians in the last eight. The opener is scheduled for the week of 14 October in Argentina.

The return match is in the week of 21 October at the Maracanã, where Flamengo have home advantage after the best overall group-stage record. Jorginho is eligible to return for that second leg.

With Jorginho available, Flamengo now turn to the Brasileirão. Leonardo Jardim's side face Red Bull Bragantino at 18:30 Brasília time on Sunday 20, at the Maracanã, in round 28.
