Controversial ex-Billericay Town owner on the run from police | OneFootball

Two arrest warrants have been issued for the ex-millionaire owner of Billericay Town after he failed to turn up to court.

Glenn Tamplin, 57, is wanted by Hertfordshire Police after failing to show up to hearings in relation to allegations of cocaine possession and breaching a community order.

A police spokeswoman told the BBC that Tamplin, whose last known addresses were in Watford and Essex, was alleged to have been in possession of the drug on 9 May, while the commmunity order breach occured in October or November.

Tamplin stepped away from Billericay Town, currently in the English seventh tier, in 2019.

He took over the Essex side in 2016 and recruited a number of high-profile signings, including Jamie O’Hara, Jermaine Pennant and Paul Konchesky.

They won the Isthmian League Cup in 2017 and earned promotion to the National League South a year later.

Tamplin bought nearby Romford Town after leaving Billericay and immediately appointed himself as manager, but left the club during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He was banned from driving for six months in 2017 after being caught speeding on multiple occasions and was declared bankrupt by the High Court of Justice on 12 April of this year.
