Corinthians close window without signings, no timeline to lift transfer bans | OneFootball

With three active transfer bans and unable to register players for 114 days, Corinthians ended the window without reinforcements. The CBF's BID registration period closed at 19:00 Brasília time on Friday.

Talks over Arthur stalled due to high salary demands. A free agent after terminating his Juventus deal, he joined Santos.

Corinthians had reached an agreement with Wesley and aimed to regularise matters to announce him. Unable to lift the bans, the forward, who had been waiting for the club, signed for Cruzeiro.

There is still no timetable to settle the debts behind the FIFA and CBF sanctions. The board is likely to resume efforts nearer the year-end window to pay the R$ 21.5 million required to lift them.

The renewal of Memphis Depay was the club’s only window movement, and there were no outgoing sales.

Sanctions were applied on 21 May over US$ 1.5 million owed to Philadelphia Union for José Martínez. On 18 July the CBF’s CNRD imposed a six-month ban after a missed fifth instalment of about R$ 8 million. Another FIFA ban began on 21 July over 1 million euros due to Midtjylland for Charles.

The club also briefly faced a fourth restriction, a US$ 225,000 FIFA fine for unpaid obligations across three deals. An advance from sponsor Fatal Fans paid the penalty and lifted that prohibition.
