Corinthians ended the Brazilian transfer window without a signing, the third time since FIFA’s system began in 2002, according to Meu Timao.

International windows have been mandatory since July 2002, while the CBF applied domestic windows only from 2022.

The first occurrence was in late 2017, when financial caution and strong form under Fábio Carille saw spending paused, and the club went on to win the league.

The second came in early 2021, as new president Duilio Monteiro Alves enforced austerity with total debt near R$ 1 billion. Recruitment was deprioritised before a later window brought in Giuliano, Willian, Róger Guedes and Renato Augusto.

This time, registration was hampered by sanctions. The club accumulated three FIFA transfer bans and one from the CNRD at the CBF, one already resolved and three still active, together about R$ 21.9 million.

Corinthians were the only Serie A side without at least one addition after the window opened on 20 July. The backdrop is debt of roughly R$ 2.7 billion and overdue salaries, image rights, holidays and bonuses to the squad.

The board sought R$ 149 million from sales but fell short. It rejected €12 million from Nottingham Forest and €10 million from Olympiaco for André Luiz, whose representative says he will stay until season’s end, and ended talks with Besiktas of Türkiye over Breno Bidon after a €18 million proposal.
