Corinthians held their sixth training session of the Fifa break on Thursday morning, stepping up preparation for Internacional away on Wednesday 7 October at Beira Rio in the 29th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
According to Meu Timao, the morning began with strength work in the gym before the squad moved outdoors for possession, duels and finishing during the warm-up. Fernando Diniz then led a tactical drill on a reduced pitch focusing on game situations.
The club are without goalkeeper Hugo Souza, right-back Matheuzinho and midfielder Breno Bidon during the international window, with the trio on Brazil duty. André Carrillo is with Peru while he continues rehabilitation from a muscle oedema in the back of his left thigh.
Left-back Matheus Bidu, centre-back Gabriel Paulista and striker Yuri Alberto, all returning from physical issues, are taking part in portions of training. Youth players involved included defender Yago Melo and midfielders Caraguá and Vitinho Dourado from the Under-20s, plus goalkeeper Gustavo Milani and forward Kayque Dallaqua, known as Tupã, from the Under-17s.
The squad are back at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava on Friday to continue preparations for the calendar’s resumption. The Internacional match offers a chance to end a six-game winless run in the league and seek a first Brasileirão victory in almost two months.
Corinthians sit 14th on 32 points, three ahead of Grêmio, who currently occupy the first relegation place.
