Corinthians confirm striker needs arthroscopy after injury against Mirassol

In an official statement released on Sunday afternoon, 5, Corinthians announced that forward Vitinho suffered a medial meniscus injury in his right knee during the match against Mirassol on Saturday, 4, for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship, requiring the player to undergo arthroscopy.

The injury occurred 33 minutes into the second half of the match, in a ball dispute with Daniel Borges. Vitinho felt pain in his right knee, tried to stay in the game, but ended up leaving the field on a stretcher. The statement does not specify a recovery time, but depending on the degree of the injury, the return time to the fields can vary from 45 days to more than three months.

Therefore, Corinthians will not be able to count on five athletes for the match against Santos, on the 15th, for the 28th round of the Brasileirão. In addition to Vitinho, André Ramalho (strain in the right hamstring), Rodrigo Garro (right calf injury), André Carrillo (ankle ligament injury) and Charles (knee pain) are injured. Coach Dorival Júnior is also still out, still suspended.

Vitinho was signed by Corinthians in August, after terminating his contract with Al-Ettifaq, from Saudi Arabia, having played so far in ten matches for the team, three as a starter, with recent increased playing time due to absences such as Garro and Memphis. His assist in the match against Mirassol was his first for the Alvinegro.
